How Cabinet Project Planning Prevents Ordering Mistakes

Cabinet project software is useful when it organizes accurate information. It cannot repair a bad measurement, choose an appliance, invent a missing filler, or determine who is responsible for delivery and installation. A reliable cabinet workflow connects verified field conditions, design decisions, product specifications, written approvals, ordering, receiving, installation, and final adjustments.

Buying Cabinets Online: What’s Included, What’s Not, and How Installation Works

Learn what an online cabinet order includes, what remains the buyer’s responsibility, and how DIY, contractor, and Florida installation options work.

Homeowners reviewing cabinet styles, kitchen plans and installation options with MDI Luxury Cabinetry

Buying cabinets online can simplify selection and delivery, but the cabinet order is only one part of the finished room. Before checkout, understand exactly what is included, what must be verified, and who will handle receiving, assembly, installation, countertops, and related trade work.

The Short Answer

An online RTA cabinet order includes the cabinet products and components listed in the finalized order. It does not automatically include field measurements, demolition, assembly, installation, countertops, plumbing, electrical work, wall repair, flooring, or permits. Those services must be completed by the homeowner, chosen contractor, or separately contracted professionals.

What Is Included—and What Is Not

Included in the Finalized Cabinet Order

  • The cabinet boxes, doors, and drawer components itemized in the order
  • Ordered fillers, panels, skins, mouldings, toe kicks, and accessories
  • Hardware supplied with the selected cabinet products
  • Finish and collection selected for each ordered component
  • Freight or delivery service shown in the completed purchase
  • MDI order review and coordination applicable to the project

Not Automatically Included

  • Site measurement or responsibility for customer-provided dimensions
  • Demolition, debris removal, wall preparation, or structural work
  • Cabinet assembly or installation unless separately contracted
  • Countertops, sinks, faucets, appliances, hardware selections, or backsplash
  • Plumbing, electrical, HVAC, gas, flooring, painting, or permit work
  • Modification of cabinets or field conditions not included in the order

How the Online Cabinet Process Works

01

Choose the Collection

Compare door profiles, finishes, available cabinet sizes, construction, accessories, and trim.

02

Build the Layout

Use verified room dimensions and final appliance specifications to develop the cabinet plan.

03

Review the Order

Confirm cabinet sizes, hinging, fillers, panels, finished sides, mouldings, accessories, and quantities.

04

Receive and Install

Prepare for unloading, inspection, storage, assembly, installation, countertops, and trade coordination.

Planning Happens Before Shipping

The safest cabinet order is based on a coordinated plan—not a rough sketch or estimated appliance opening. Room conditions, finished-floor height, doors, windows, soffits, plumbing, electrical locations, appliance clearances, fillers, panels, and mouldings can all change the order.

Design and Order Review

Plans and elevations help coordinate sizes, symmetry, appliances, fillers, panels, trim, storage, and cabinet compatibility.

Receiving and Inspection

Plan for delivery access, unloading help, dry storage, package inspection, damage documentation, and protection before installation.

Cabinet Installation Options

DIY Assembly and Installation

Appropriate for capable buyers who can verify dimensions, assemble cabinets correctly, establish level reference lines, locate framing, secure cabinets, and coordinate panels, fillers, trim, appliances, and countertops.

Your Chosen Contractor

A qualified local installer or licensed contractor can receive the finalized plan and cabinet specifications, verify site conditions, assemble and install the cabinetry, and coordinate related trades.

MDI Custom Homes in Florida

For qualifying Florida projects, installation or broader remodeling may be contracted separately through MDI Custom Homes LLC, a licensed general contractor. Installation is not automatically included with an online cabinet purchase.

Before You Finalize the Order

  • Verify final room dimensions and site conditions
  • Select final appliance models and specifications
  • Confirm door, drawer, handle, and appliance clearances
  • Identify every exposed finished side
  • Include required fillers, panels, skins, trim, and toe kicks
  • Review the complete cabinet list and quantities
  • Read delivery, inspection, damage, and return requirements
  • Confirm who will receive, assemble, and install the order

Online Cabinet and Installation FAQs

Does buying cabinets online include installation?

No. Installation is not automatically included with an online cabinet order. Installation may be completed as a DIY project, by a chosen installer or contractor, or under a separate agreement for qualifying Florida projects.

Who is responsible for cabinet measurements?

The buyer is responsible for providing accurate site information unless field measurement has been specifically included in a separate service agreement. Final dimensions and site conditions should be verified before ordering.

Are countertops included with an online cabinet order?

No. Countertops, sinks, faucets, appliances, backsplash, plumbing, electrical work, and related installation are separate unless specifically listed in another written agreement.

What should happen immediately after delivery?

Inspect the shipment and packaging, compare received items with the order, photograph any visible damage, keep packaging, and follow the current reporting requirements before assembly or installation.

Can MDI review an online cabinet order before it ships?

Yes. MDI provides applicable layout and order-review support to help coordinate cabinet sizing, compatibility, fillers, panels, clearances, trim, accessories, and quantities before the order moves forward.
